Matt Murphy

Matt is the Director of Mantle Insurance. He has nearly 15 years experience in the insurance industry most recently owning and operating his own local agency The Murphy Agency – Allstate Insurance since 2010, having taken over ownership of the former Tom Sorrells Agency which had been in operation for nearly 30 years prior to that. He is licensed in Property and Casualty and Life and Health insurance and is appointed in both Georgia and South Carolina. Matt graduated from Samford University in 2002 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and also earned his MBA (Masters of Business Administration) from Augusta University in 2010.

His former agency received numerous annual awards and recognition from Allstate Company for excellence in the key areas of customer service, customer retention and loyalty, growth, and profitability. His agency designations included Honor Ring, National/Leader’s Forum, and they were also recognized numerous times with the Premier Agency Designation. His agency was consistently recognized as one of the top performing company agencies in the greater CSRA.

Matt is a member of the Independent Insurance Agents of GA, Exchange Club of Augusta, Augusta Country Club, and the Augusta Golf Association. He also currently serves on the Golf Tournament Committee for Apparo Academy and has served in similar roles in the past with the Dennis Memorial Golf Tournament benefiting the University Health Care Foundation and was on the Board of Trustees for the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art.

In his free time Matt also enjoys volunteering his time and efforts as a youth sports coach for the YMCA and the Augusta Recreation Department.’

He is most proud of his work and involvement in the local community helping to give back by supporting various non-profit organizations that he is passionate about. He earned numerous Community Volunteer Grants from the Allstate Foundation for his work and involvement with Apparo Academy, Safe Homes of Augusta, Family Promise of Augusta, Successteam Foundation for Youth Development, and the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art.

Matt is married to his wife Megan, and has a son Mason and a daughter Kate. He is an active member of Warren Baptist Church. His hobbies and passions include spending time with his family, traveling, golf, fishing, and following UGA football.
